Knocknarea Mountain by Nigel Moran

·    The Knocknarea Mountain walk is an easy 1 hour walk to the top.

·    This easy mountain walk is located 4 miles west of Sligo Town on Strandhill road.

·    The huge cairn on the summit is 55 meters in diameter and 10 meters high.

·    It is believed to date to around 3000 BC.

·    At 1073 feet above sea level, Knocknarea is a fine limestone hill standing between the bays of Sligo and Ballysadare.

·    Away to the north, east and south you can see mountains including Ben Bulben, rivers, lakes and woodlands.
